4) How can a film opening attract an audience?

After watching the documentary "watching", i have learnt many things about the importance of film openings. One of which being that the start to a film must grab the audiences attention immediately, however the start of the film cannot be too good or you will "set the bar too high" and the audience will be disappointing with the rest of the movie.
According to Stanley, the classic movie opening is a wide establishing shot of a city skyline followed by a long shot of a building where the camera looks into a window of the building, going through the window, past the receptionists desk and into the office of the main character.
