TASK 5 - What Makes A Good Title Sequence?

What Makes A Good Title Sequence According to Kyle Cooper

Kyle Cooper is a well known designer of title sequences. He is recognised for his amazing job of the title sequences for Spider-Man, Seven and The Mummy.

Kyle Cooper states that "A good title sequence allows the audience to establish expectations and be prepared for what they are about to watch"  So it has to be able to get the viewer thinking and already make predictions of what they think will happen. He says how a good title sequence should allow the audience to figure out the tone the mood and the genre of the film instantly. Cooper thinks that a connection between every part of the film is necessary and making sure the audience has a moment of understanding is also very important.

Kyle Cooper likes to make title sequences from simple regular realistic things. His trick to a good title sequence is to make the simple things amazing and through the way he organises his shots. He shoots at different angles and uses music in the background to create different kinds of atmospheres depending on the movie genre. He prefers to create deep meanings visually with dramatic music instead of using speech. Overall, Cooper always manages to hint at the mood, tone of the film and genre. He checks that every aspect of a successful title sequence are in all of his works and the hard work is seen through his amazing title sequences.
